Tom wins 'OCS Young Sportsperson of the Year' award for the London inside M25 region.

7 year-old racing canoeist Tom Hide from Hampton Hill received a top sporting award from Tim Brabants, Olympic bronze medallist, at the OCS Young Sports Person Awards presented by Clare Balding, TV presenter and sports journalist, on 22nd November at the Brit Oval. Tom received a cheque for £2,500 and was named London Regional Winner of the prestigious Young Sports Person Awards, now in the tenth year of celebrating sporting achievement and supporting young athletes across the UK.
Last year Tom represented Great Britain at under-16 and under-18 in international competitions and was selected for the British Canoe Union World Class programme at the end of the season, having proven to be amongst the best junior canoe racers in Europe. He started this season with a win in his first National trials 1,000 metre singles race, and a second place at 500 metres, and is pushing hard for a place at the Junior World Sprint Championships in the Czech Republic.
